Needle Felting
Workshops
How does it work?
All natural wool has tiny scales down its length and felting needles have tiny barbs at the sharp end. Initially wool is bunched together and the needle is driven through the wool which then begins to attach to other wool strands. This causes the wool fibres to very quickly ‘felt’ together. As this happens, the emerging woollen shape is constantly moved around and more wool is added to create the design.
Half Day Workshop...
The half day workshop (about 3 hours) is a morning or an afternoon and in this time an owl, hare or similar can be made. You will be taught everything required to produce a felt sculpture. Larger designs will take longer – please ask if you’re interested in a more complex design or a shorter, simpler session.

After much stabbing with the needles the finished model will be quite firm and very adorable! Many of the people who come say how relaxing the needling is as you ‘zone out’ and think of nothing but the process.

Again these are smalls groups (6 maximum) to ensure lots of help and guidance. Even though we all make the same model idea on the day, the finished models are all different as the photos show!
What's included in the price?
All materials required are included along with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.
On the full day, a delicious lunch of homemade soup and a sandwich is available for £5 if you’d prefer not to bring your own.
Do we cater for parties?
Yes! Children's (10+) or Adult felt parties available. Perhaps a birthday treat? A girls’ get together? (I am happy to run an evening class too)

Courses will run throughout the year so please see my website for current workshops. If you find there isn’t a date to suit, please contact me as I am always pleased to tailor make a class to suit.
